Diagnosys visual electrophysiology system is a new multi-function electrophysiological system for diagnosing ophthalmic conditions as well as assist in vision research and drug trials. This training course provided the user a good opportunity to practice this system operation.
Micron IV retinal image microscope is a convenient system for monitoring rat and mouse retina. This system can record bright field images, fluorescein and Evan’s blue angiography, and fluorescent image. In this training course, we taught the users to operate this system and to practice bright field and fluorescent imaging.
Induced pluripotent stem cells (also known as iPS cells or iPSCs) are a type of pluripotent stem cell that can be generated directly from adult cells. The iPSC technology was pioneered by Shinya Yamanaka’s lab in Kyoto, Japan, who showed in 2006 that the introduction of four specific genes encoding transcription factors could convert adult cells into pluripotent stem cells. We used the Yamanaka factors to reprogram the human fore skin fibroblast. After 30 days of culture, we had successfully transformed human fibroblasts into pluripotent stem cells.
TCIER hold a training course on Jan 22, 2015. In this class, we taught the students from Tzu Chi University to prepare the retina section from rat and to perform IHC staining on retina section. All of the students were able to learn the practical skills from the experts in our laboratory.
